It is a long journey of roughly 700 km from Cappadocia to Fethiye.
Along the way, we stopped at the Eşrefoğlu Mosque on the shore of Lake Beyşehir.
Located in the town of Beyşehir (Konya Province) in central Anatolia, it is a historic wooden mosque built at the end of the 13th century, during the final years of the Anatolian Seljuk Sultanate.
Renowned as the largest and best-preserved masterpiece among the medieval wooden-columned mosques still standing in Anatolia, it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2023.
Continuing on our way, we made it as far as the Antalya region.
There we stopped at the ancient ruins of Aspendos.
This is a Roman theater built in the 2nd century A.D. (during the reign of Emperor Marcus Aurelius of the Roman Empire), said to be "the best-preserved in the world."
Designed in the 2nd century by the architect Zeno, it could hold about 15,000 spectators. While the stage-backdrop wall (the scaenae frons) has collapsed in many Roman theaters, at Aspendos the magnificent two-story back wall of the stage survives fully intact. It is still used today for theatrical performances and other events, and on this very day preparations were underway to set up the venue for a concert.
